As I was looking into the different options to Publish on my Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere (see POSSE), I came across the idea of having a custom permashortlink service.

The second part in implementing my own custom permashortlink solution is to make the short link available somewhere… I created a custom Hexo helper, but still need to figure out how to compute the post oridinal of the day…
Implementing my own custom permashortlink solution.
First part was to expand short URL to permalinks. The easiest way was to create a sub-domain on the domain I already own, so I picked https://o.audard.net/.
Curious about how it works?

As you might know, I’m taking some distance from Twitter and I’m trying to get back ownership on the content I publish online. Clearly I’m not the only one to take that path, neither the first one… In fact, there is a whole community of people or companies who share those values and principles. This community identify itself as the IndieWeb.
A quick note. The very first I published on here.
In the future, I’d like to POSSE content from this section to my Mastodon account.
TLDR: This website is now free from Google Analytics tracking. I’m giving a try to GoatCounter as a privacy-friendly alternative
It’s been a while since I published something here. Last post is from 2013! That’s almost exactly 10 years ago! For the last few years, for many different reasons, I didn’t take the time to write anything that was worth publishing. When I had to share something online, I was mostly relying on Twitter by default, without even thinking about it. It was easy, convenient, and quite a direct way to interact with the small circle of friends and relatives I have online. As many other people, I was also relying a lot on Twitter to keep myself up-to-date on both work-related and more personal topics.
But here is the thing: I don’t want to use Twitter anymore.
